Time and cost are becoming more and more important factors in the development of new products. It is therefore extremely important for the injection molding industry to produce prototypes that can go into production as quickly as possible.

To be sure, rapid prototyping is being employed more and more often but such prototypes frequently can not fully match the imposed requirements. where there is a need for molds that are as close to go into production as possible, RT(rapid tooling) is the only process by which the molds can be made that will enable the production of injection molded prototypes from the same material that will eventually be used for the mass produced part. Such proximity to series production, however, also entails greater outlay on time and costs for this reason. RT will only be used where the specifications require it.
