thank you for your suggestions, now I want to tell you how to arrange these ribs: […]
but how to add ribs to a plastic part design, maybe there are something need to be considered: […]
hey! Every one, please don’t forget ribs, sometimes, in order to enhance the plastic part strength and stiffness, and it is impossible to increase the wall thickness of the part, what to do? Yes! ribs could help and also ribs could improve material flow conditions during molding.
sometimes, the thickness can help us to probably locate the welding mark, for example, in order to avoid leaving welding marks in the top areas. We should increase the thickness of the top areas to a reasonable value.
during the solidification and cooling process, uneven shrinkage is bad for plastic part, such as residual forces and defects and so on. So the homogeneous thickness around the part is very important.
I want to say something about thermoplastic material when you meet thickness problem, actually thermoplastic materials are good for parts with a thin wall. The value we often use is from 1.5 mm to 4 mm. though it could be as thin as 0.6 – 0.9mm, or even 0.25 mm at time.
before deciding a certain thickness, you need to balance something like economics, and part quality and strength, these contain the material type, part size, and molding conditions and so on.
the wall thickness of plastic parts is a very important parameter, because they often need to assembly with other parts, maybe plastic part or metal part and so on, so it needs to have sufficient strength for it’s application, […]
how to determine a plastic part’s quality, aside from dimensional accuracy, the surface quality of plastic parts will be examined, it depends on whether there exist defects, such as spots, wrinkles, porosity, dents, welding marks, and their surface luster and finish and so on.
